Thinking how to celebrate your child’s upcoming birthday? Birthdays come once a year and it should be celebrated with pomp. When your child grows up he/she will fondly dwell upon the memories of their past birthdays thinking what a birthday that was! But prior to everything you will have to decide upon a theme on which you want to plan the birthday party. There are many options available now days but there is one theme that stands out and is bound to be a hit with all children-the Harry Potter Birthday theme.

You will have to plan the entire party keeping in mind all the nitty-gritty which will serve as the main attraction. To begin with send out invitations on parchment paper and to make it more appealing use antique looking calligraphy font. You can use such phrases as “Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry is conducting its Tri Wizard Tournament on (date and time). You are invited to attend the tournament on due date at (your address)”

Just a little bit of imagination will help you to create the perfect Harry Potter Birthday theme. Start with your yard. You can place some plastic bats on trees in your yard. Place some magic brooms along the path leading to your house and place some lamps just at the entrance of your house. Try something imaginative with your dining hall. You can convert your dining room into Great Hall by simply cutting out yellow foam stars and moon and pasting them on a black sheet and use the black sheet to cover up the ceiling.

The dining table will be a major focus so try to make it as attractive as possible. Drape the table with Harry Potter party black table cloth. Instead of regular utensils use gold hued plates, napkins, cups, spoons, knives and forks. At the center of the table place your child’s Harry Potter books and other merchandise. It is bound to draw kids towards it.

Give extra attention to the Birthday child’s spot. After all it is his/her special day. The child can be seated on a raised platform and surround your kid with Harry potter merchandise such as a wizard hat, stadium cup, a magic wand etc whatever accessory can add to the magic. You can also make your child wear a nice magic robe along with trademark harry potter glasses.

Add to the fun by naming different rooms in your house as the Great hall, Potions room, Divination/herbology room etc. Cut felt in the shape of a banner. Design house emblems using felt and glue the emblems to the banner. Make sure that you use the respective house colors on the emblems. Then you are ready to hang the banners on the wall.

In your dining room which will serve as the Great Hall hang icicle lights from the ceiling to create an illusion of hanging candles. In the Potions room use regular white light. Apart from that you can also use large candelabra. Do not forget to place some jars of plastic spiders, snakes, frogs, crystal rocks etc in the potions room. It will add to the charm. In the sitting area of the Divination room place some large pillows around a low table.

Harry potter cake is a must have. You can prepare a two layer cake by following the package directions. You can avail of Harry Potter cake pan and other cake decoration items from any party store. After assembling all the required ingredients it should not be difficult for you to prepare a mouth watering Harry Potter cake for your child.

You can prepare a special lightning bolt cake by following the given directions: First prepare a round cake following the cake mix directions. Then use vanilla icing to make a yellow lightning bolt on top of the cake. You can also make it yellow by using food coloring or frosting.

After noting down all the tips it should be pretty easy for you to arrange a Harry Potter Birthday party for your child. A little bit of imagination and creativity will help you to plan the perfect birthday for your kid.
